Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the more common questions I receive from clients however if you need any further information please do feel free to contact me using the 'Contact us' section.

Taking Notes

Confidentiality

Are sessions confidential?

Yes.  Your session is your own and anything you discuss with me will be kept confidential unless I am legally obliged to report anything disclosed to me by law.  There maybe times when I need to seek further guidance to help support you in our sessions and I have a dedicated supervisor who I meet regularly and who is bound by the same confidentiality rules and ethical guidelines that I am.

Session set-up

How do sessions work?  How long do they last and how often will I need to attend?

I offer weekly sessions lasting 50minutes.  I can work with clients online or face-to-face and offer both long and short term counselling.  During our first session we will discuss your expectations of the counselling sessions, what you you feel you would like to work on and how we can best work together.  The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, for you to ask any questions you may have and to see if this feels like the right fit for you.  Counselling involves a client feeling safe enough in their environment and with their therapist to discuss any worries they may have and this first session is your opportunity to do that.

We will also have regular reviews to see how you feel the sessions are going and to reassess your wants and needs.

Payment

How much are sessions?  Can I set-up a payment plan? Will I be charged for missed sessions?

I charge £45 a session.  This is payable at the end of each session and can be paid either in cash or via bank-transfer.  If you would like to set-up a direct debit to cover sessions then this can be arranged.

Once we have booked a regular slot this will be yours until you no longer require it or, if needed,  until a new day and time are confirmed.  I appreciate that life happens and sometimes sessions need to be cancelled for unforeseeable circumstances.  Sessions cancelled with more than 24hours notice will not be charged.  Sessions cancelled with 24hours or less notice will be charged at the full amount.

Who do you work with?

Do you work with couples? Do have a minimum age requirement?

I currently  offer individual therapy sessions to adults (18 and over).  I am experienced in working with a range of different issues from anxiety and depression through to bereavement, trauma and abuse.  As with all good therapists, I am continually learning and expanding my professional knowledge and I am always open to working with new clients from a full range of different social, cultural and economic backgrounds and have experience of working with neurodiverse clients.
